In the tradition of crazy quilts, a form of quilting dating from Victorian times that made use of small pieces of discarded cloth and worn out clothing, Walter’s quilts are about reusing material leftover from her cutting table. They have no planned design in shape or arrangement of color. Rather, like painting, aesthetic choices are made as one piece meets another over the course of building the whole quilt.
