Umbra, Toronto

This annual Festival exhibition partners with Umbra to discover ways to maximize minimal space. Curated by Deborah Wang and Jeremy Vandermej, eleven Canadian designers were asked to design prototypes to explore the state of modern living, and the current realities of housing in urban environments. 

The FELT file folder and magazine holder is designed and made by Kathryn Walter. At 10” wide x 11” long x 10” high, it will sit on the floor or on a desk and can be filled to increasing capacity as the felt folds tighten. The design makes use of a dense, firm felt to hold its structure through simple folds. The felt rolls up and the wood flat packs for compact packaging and shipping.
